WordPress 4.0 The difference is that it's not in the middle, but it's on to the top of the page.
I know the topic of this blog will not be of much interest for anyone not related to the 1980s. However, here's a little knowledge regarding culture. You're invited.
WordPress v4.0 was released on 4 September and two from The WooTeam ( myself and Mike Jolley) are among the 275 people who contributed to the publication. There was a lot of talk discussed about WordPress 4.0 specifically with regard to the obvious milestone version as the title seems to be referring to, and so we thought it'd be fascinating to examine what's in the release and see how much difference will make to our lives.
What's included WordPress 4.0?
Each WordPress release is accompanied by a myriad of brand new features, updates as well as general improvements. It was no different and, in v4.0 the number of tickets included was seven11 ticket tickets which were added to every ticket being a fresh feature, an improvement over the one already available, or a fix for a broken feature.
The following are the major enhancements that WordPress 4.0 can offer: 4.0:
- Grid views, enhanced and detail views to the library of media
- Improved embedding of media in articles (YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
- Improvements to the post editor include a toolbar which is able to slide down the page as you write
- A new plugin search that can be enhanced by providing attractive and visually pleasing outcomes for search results

Where are the new capabilities?
When you review the list of features in the above list it's clear that the most of them are enhancements or improvements to already-existing (already operating) features. The result was a large majority of users to view v4.0 as a release that's not sufficient to warrant its status as a landmark (more about that later.) What a majority do not realize is that the improvements are designed to improve WordPress to become a more powerful platform for writing and publishing content.
Pippin Williamson has made numerous excellent observations in this regard in the past, and there's no need to go into detail here just to point out that, once you've been working with WordPress 4.0 for a while, you'll see that the 'additions have become so useful that you won't understand why you weren't using the enhancements until this point.
As an WordPress plugin creator I'm a fan of the latest search pages for plugins, and for bloggers, the blog editor has been called changing the game. That alone is a major new release for WordPress.
What's so exciting about this version?
The majority of software applications utilize semantic version numbering, which implies that the 4.0 release is much more significant than v3.9 and might alter the application completely. WordPress does not operate in the manner similar to the way it works and instead treats 4.0 as if it were 3.9 as well as 4.1 (you can learn more about WordPress the system of numbering versions at this site). Its impressive enhancements that WordPress 4.0 offers, puts a stop the claims it is a pity that the version 4.0 can be described as "hugely ineffective".
What's coming up in WordPress 4.1?
It's hard to say the primary characteristics of WordPress 4.1 will be, but If you take a look at the tickets that are earmarked for to hit the 4.1 threshold and you'll get a understanding of what to anticipate. It will, like every other version be improvements and fixes to current features and a number of new features which could enhance WordPress even further.
