The use of space and motion in illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog
From the time I was a kid, I've always loved drawing as well as paint with my hands. It has been the most natural way for me to express my feelings. Growing up in Taiwan my pursuit of the art of making was often looked down upon and was often a source of instruction by my parents to study the practical aspects of the art field, otherwise I'd be in the streets starving.
My Mom would always encourage me to achieve whatever I wanted to and she did everything she could to assist in achieving my goals. After returning to my home in the United States and graduating high school, I made the decision that I'd want to enter the field of art.

I was accepted into ArtCenter College of design, taking a course in Illustration, with the goal to pursue a career in feature animation. But, as I was pursuing my studies I came across motion graphics, and fell in the love of their flexibility along with all the incredible art created by people I admire.

What would you say about your style?
I'm still on the road to discovering the style that I can to confidently claim as my own. I have the tendency to experiment with various things from time period... For instance, one month I'll want to do very colorful things in the near future, and I'll soon be exploring natural colors. I'm a huge fan of a or driving style at a certain point, one day suddenly I'll become bored and decide to experiment with an approach based on the lines.

Sometimes, I'll attempt to merge opposite items that are fascinating for me as if I'm on a never-ending journey to explore and discover. After fumbling a bit here and there I'm beginning to notice there are some styles, colours or even compositions that I am drawn to. Maybe that's a start of an aesthetic?

This is one reason I enjoy working for Oddfellows, sometimes I still cannot believe that I'm fortunate to belong to an amazing group of individuals. The company requires us to be able to change our style depending on the project. Each project needs to be completed using different methods as well as I'm getting more knowledge from my colleagues each day.

What is the key to making your drawings?
I enjoy drawing sketches of the subjects that I am interested or interested in. In the end, I attempt to add my own twist to the subject.
My main objective is to be having fun. Fun is essential to creating something that people are able to tell that the creator was having enjoyment performing something... that extra shine.

While fighting the pandemic, seeing our studio as well as my colleagues working in support of the local community At the end of the day I made the decision to start my own Patreon called Joy&Frens that will give 50% of the profits going to charity chosen by the patrons. On the Patreon, I share Tips and Tricks, process videos, ask friends to join me for collaborations, and offer their expertise.
My work can be observed on Instagram and my website.
