The Next Chapter

When I was in high school I was in high school in 2008 and joined the ranks with one of my most trusted classmates in that time. Stu McLaren and I brought our expertise together and came up with Member.

It was never in our minds that we would embark on an exciting and thrilling adventure. WordPress has been growing at an impressive rate. It's an exciting period. There isn't a clear answer, but there were many indicators suggesting WordPress will beat Joomla and Drupal.

In order to put it in perspective, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have been making waves since they first made their appearances on the world stage of music. A few of the present participants had their initial year of high school in the year of our founding.

The web-based world of discussions about marketing for membership sites was all the rage. However, there were not any options for creating an online site for membership which used WordPress. Numerous development companies focused on themes. Therefore, the market for premium plug-ins was hardly even present.

We saw it as an opportunity to take action promptly. Mike Lopez was our Jedi engineer. He could create anything that we asked him to create. He designed the first version of Member independently within just 3 months.

Similar to my prior ventures that dealt with software, we spotted the requirement for a solution and we created a well-crafted solution for the issue that is commonly encountered. There's no doubt that members was able to witness some Rapid Growth. The initial emphasis was on word of mouth. The business expanded over a year before we spent no amount on marketing.

They are opportunities that entrepreneurs are aspiring to.

The beginning of our journey, when we started our journey in the business, we were first approached by a request for information regarding selling our business. The response was very welcoming. response However, they requested existing brands, where the founder had decided to retire. The company was fresh and enthusiastic, so it made absolutely no sense.

The initial question was the proof. It was clear that the member was "Built to market" as were people interested.

In response to my initial question I then had a chat with a person I believed to be an experienced advisor. His entrepreneurial experience includes owning several different businesses. One of these is that is an investment firm known as Venture Capital. The man also been the owner of several companies prior to selling them. This man is a pro.

My friend offered a helpful tip of the iceberg. He shared, "the secret to selling your business is finding out who is buying it, and then create a perfect match."

The suggestion was a great help for me, but I have a few minor issues. One is that, when it's an affiliate, you're creating a company just for anyone to want. This is a joint venture the partners agree to build in conjunction. We cannot, however, find out who the prospective buyer might be.

There was a period when Stu and I formed Mike as the minor partner. This was likely in the year 2010.

The web landscape was transformed dramatically during the second quarter of 2014. Stu determined to follow his love of teaching and focus his energies to help others with creating efficient membership sites. Mike and I each continued working for the software company.

In the beginning I was an important shareholder, along with the shareholder. It was frightening and thrilling all at once.

Our leadership team and I went to Colorado for a focus on forming plans.

It was evident that we would need to perform certain recalibrations. The focus should be shifted away from the accomplishments we have made over the years instead, our focus should be on the things we could do in the near term. Personally, I'd like to eliminate the notion of forming the type of company I thought one could be interested in purchasing and think about what kind of business I'd like to have.

These past few months have shown me numerous aspects. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned was that Isolation is a killer for business owners. It is possible to be lonely at times. There's no better method to make friends and build relationships which can help you create peace and harmony in your work force.

It is impossible to predict how an interaction can transform into a connection...

I was fortunate to have the honor of having the pleasure of meeting Micah Mitchell at a conference. He worked with someone who sold a software product like Member. A lot of people might have thought that they were the best rivals. This wasn't something I thought about. I was thinking about it and thought that this guy was extremely nice and I would love to get acquainted with him.

In the following years, Micah quit his old firm and launched a brand that was dubbed Memberium. Many would have thought that he was rival now. The only thing I knew was that I liked the man.

It was further confirmed when I met him in the security lines in the terminal. We enjoyed a wonderful conversation, discussing what we had been working on. We realized that we had been given the task of sitting next to each other on the plane. Was this something of a joke? It's possible that someone put it together. But it was completely random.

It was a fun variation on the trip that we were thinking about the perfect April Fool's Day joke. In it, we'd declare that Micah recently acquired Member. It was funny to think of it being called Memberium. Perhaps we can add 360 to the name for an extra kick. People who read this post could be able to understand.

The first time that I had a seat next to my computer's rival (thanks Delta!) became a long-lasting friendship. Our two friends would meet each month to talk about business matters over dinner over the course of many years. Our conversations ended soon after my family members and me relocated back to Tennessee. There were many great friendships throughout our time in Utah as well. It was difficult to leave.

I love developing software. It's thrilling to see an idea come to life is exciting. It's especially thrilling when you're in a team with a fantastic team and the product grows faster than you imagined you would be able to achieve. A great example is the latest version of the Courses Add-Ons available to members.

Although it's thrilling however this sounds, the fact is, it's a struggle. As soon as you cross the 1-yard mark, and you're only a few meters away from achieving a goal, you may be running on empty due to all the hard effort.

When we finished wrapping up on the concept and planning to release the product we came up with, I felt extremely tired. I realized that the most effective option is to look for a genuine marketing partner. A company that knew of the marketplace and who could aid me in moving my client to the next level. I have made several calls to my trusted friends from business. My wife suggested that Micah should be included in the list of shortlisted candidates. I promised my wife that I'd contact him the following day.

Before I'd even spoken with Micah Micah, he sent me an SMS. It was similar to sitting alongside him on the plane. Sometimes you just know there's a purpose behind every thing.

Discussions led to the notion that we could sell Member to Micah's business MemberShipper and also to the entity that is responsible for Memberium. Our product built with Member was exactly the type of thing MemberShipper wanted to add to their portfolio.

Through the years I've faced a number of concerns about selling my company. A majority of these did not feel right up until now. I wanted to make sure that Member was a name that was strong. In addition, I wanted to make sure my wonderful staff were surrounded by the correct employees.

With each step, it was increasingly clear that it was the best next step for Member as well as our team and the thousands of fantastic clients who have continued to use our service for so many years.

I am extremely grateful to those who've steered both sides. They've worked hard for this to be as effortless as possible for me. It's an amazing experience to observe everyone working in tandem.

The most frequently asked queries I'm getting right now is "What's going to happen within your everyday living? ".

Though I'm sure I'll have a great time in retirement, what me really need is a holiday. I'm excited to take an extended time for myself.

In essence, you should be sure that your team will keep developing and innovating. Members are continuously improving and growing. Your team will never slow down.

I'm committed to working together with Micah as well as all people throughout the whole year. I'm in a position that I would be described as a dream job. I'm currently the "Director of Strategic Partnerships" for both companies that make up MemberShipper.

You can expect to meet me on many occasions within the next few months. My own personal goal is to provide the highest value for money over the next year. I'd like to see Member advance under Micah's leadership.

It's possible that I'll be around longer time than you imagined.

Never have I felt such a feeling of confidence in the future of my fellow members than now. The future is only just beginning.
