Creating Cozy & Collaborative Virtual Communities
Cicely Blain, an anti-racism specialist & Founder Bakau Consulting. Bakau Consulting
The premise of the event is that even though remote work was in existence prior to COVID-19, the epidemic made it more necessary for organizations to move into a online environment. Because of this, businesses seeking to maintain a close relation with their clients chose to create groups of similar individuals who could be a source for each other. It's not easy to make an online community as personal as a physical one.
In this presentation, Cicely Blain shares their stories of how they created their own web-based community called Living Room. The audience discussed their approach of creating an inviting and welcoming atmosphere in an online environment. making sure that their communities are safe and inclusive, and making use of the internet to meet the requirements of the people.
The most important Takeaways
HTML0 Make sure you know who your target audience is and what they are seeking.
Prior to the creation of Living Room, Cicely had determine the target audience that they wished to build an online space for. Since their focus is combating injustice and discrimination that exist, Cicely knew that this particular group would be the primary person to target, including DEI consultants and experts, as well as HR specialists who are doing the same work.
Also, Cicely had to figure out what they actually desired.
"I thought about what people anticipate, especially during this critical moment when a lot of topics are shifting and receiving different directions?
They are certainly searching for a feeling of belonging, a feeling of connection and solidarity in times of isolation. The people are also searching for ways to make connections and learn."
Create content that is user-friendly website.
One of the best ways to attract new members to your community is by providing them with something that they can connect to. For Cicely something that can be thought of as a comparison to their living area. They wanted to create the identical cozy and welcoming atmosphere that their living room offered them.
"I wondered, "What are the things I wish people to feel as they enter the place I wanted them to feel? I concluded that it was my desire that visitors feel exactly the same way as in the space. It should be welcoming, warm and welcoming. I would like them to feel comfortable, at ease and secure, as well as felt connected and visible."
Cicely infuses this energy into the community by:
- The first thing to do is allow an additional 10 minutes to reflect. The facilitators ask a list of questions for people watching onscreen in order to help attendees do some reflection on themselves.
- A soothing playlist of music built around R&B for people to let their hair down and ease into the conversation.
- Every phone call should be treated like a call from a person who's playing with the best group of friends. When they're not filming videos to promote their online course, Cicely might be doing their make-up or cooking tea at home.
Offer a range of options for people in the community to access the data they need
Members of the online community are typically those who share similar interests, they may possess different strengths, weaknesses, and needs. If you run a business you'll have to come up with different methods to be able to satisfy the requirements that your members have, despite their differences.
Together with Living Room, Cicely met the requirements of their customers with:
- Participating in different methods (e.g. online forums and chat rooms or online courses that provide a comprehensive curriculum and comprehensive, etc. );
- Establishes the collective values and guidelines;
- Allowing people to dress to appear authentic
- Elimination of stressors that are not needed, such as deadlines, agendas and timings for meetings.
- Be aware of accessibility issues (e.g. disabilities and neurodivergence) including neurodivergence impairments.
Funnel Funds: Optimizing Sales Through Focused Funnel for Customers
Ellie Diop, Content and Coaching Coach for Funding at Ellievated Academy
Summary of session: In for a successful enterprise, you require customers that will make a purchase or use with your products and services. However, many firms make the mistake of creating content that they think the ideal customer will want however, they are not what customers really would like. In this presentation, Ellie explains how you will increase sales and increase profits by creating a funnel that attracts your most desirable customers, and that is created to satisfy the desires and requirements of these customers.
Principal takeaways
Every piece of content plays a part to fulfill.
The process of creating a funnel targeted at the people they serve is similar building relations with your customers. The best way to do this is creating content that is informative in addition to being useful, informative and useful for customers. A funnel specifically created for users includes five steps:
- Awareness
- Discovery
- For more information, contact us.
- Conversion
- Retention and relationship +
Concerning the importance of writing material, Ellie says, "Every item you produce can be considered a piece of your sales team. What you've composed in the last 3 months is working to assist customers through this channel... You must ensure that you're there each day with an identical design, which creates a regular style for your customers to know and assist them in the entire process."
Let your name be known
If you're uncertain of who your products or services are marketed to, it's unlikely of someone making a purchase or engage using your offerings. Therefore, before you begin to design an online funnel for marketing, you need to establish your brand's mission and goal, beginning with the most ideal client. You can ask yourself:
- Who do I serve?
- What could I do to assist with their problems?
- What should I be aware of?
These questions form the foundation for any business choice. Ellie offers a basic model to assist [YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE] to meet [YOUR goals by using your product or service.
Based on her experience in growing her business Ellie says, "For myself, this may mean helping women to develop profitable companies by showing women how to organize and finance techniques. '... In the past I'd kept this in the form of a post-it in a corner. So whenever I attempted to film a video, I knew exactly who I was talking to. "
Make your social media followers
Social media is one of the most successful ways of establishing brand recognition and generate leads for your business. As a result, the majority of users will browse through your business's Instagram profile (or other social media websites) prior to navigating to your site.
Therefore, it is important spend your time (and possibly the cash) to the content that you share on your social media platforms in order to make it more visible. The best way to accomplish that is by:
- Inspiring, educational, and easy to communicate details (especially videos)
- Ads that run paid
- Collaboration with influencers who have the same market that you
Utilize lead magnets to build your database of email addresses
When you're creating videos or content, the goal is to get most people from social media to your mailing list. If you include people on your list of subscribers to email, it gives you the chance to directly connect with them, which is more valuable in comparison to when they stumble upon your posts and content when browsing across Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). Lead magnets are in which they're valuable.
By using lead magnets, you're giving the benefit of your product for free in exchange for contact details (usually the names of the people as well as their email addresses). But you can request other items too. At the time she started her business, Ellie offered free 1-on-1 sessions to customers to reward them for their reviews. Ellie used the testimonials she received to secure her first batch of paid customers.
"You've to consider what I'm able to offer in terms of the highest-quality services and make somebody happy? Consider it as your main attraction. (In my personal company) I've recently unveiled a new way for marketing. Instead of leading customers to a particular product instead, we encourage them to take advantage of a complimentary offer such as the free masterclass. Then we sell it on the back end. Our results have been incredibly."
It is a method of staying in touch with current customers more easily than acquiring new ones
Each new lead you receive, you must proceed through the steps to move them through the sales funnel. This is a lot more difficult than influencing a client to return to you. So, concentrate on keeping of customers equally as or even greater than finding new clients.
To ensure that your clients are satisfied in your business, here are the steps to follow:
- Provide high-quality customer service
- Use customer surveys to get feedback
- Find testimonials from satisfied customers (offer incentives programs if have the opportunity)
- Create a secondary product to fill any gaps in the market
On creating a second offering, Ellie shares, "I created my business credit program for the first time with just 15 dollars. Then I started receiving the feedback of my clients on what they needed next. So I came up with the Business Credit revamped. After that, I developed the Business Credit masterclass, and afterward, the entire bundle. The result was that the majority of those who bought the first one purchased the second one to fill in the missing pieces. They then bought the third model because they learned more and experience, they required more."
Expanding both B2C and B2B Companies to generate multiple revenue streams
Jessica Chen, Global Communications Expert and the CEO of Soulcast Media
Summary of session: Businesses in general depend on three major revenue and sales elements that determine their offering and services, the material which they develop to explain their products and offerings and the platforms they use to share the content. In this presentation, Jessica discusses the power of LinkedIn to assist businesses in reaching directly to their clients (B2C) in addition to other organizations (B2B) How to craft your content so that it appeals to both kinds of audience and also how you can improve the quality of your offerings and services for both audiences.
LinkedIn is an efficient way to share information, and extending your reach.
Although many business and professional owner have profiles on LinkedIn however, they don't think of LinkedIn as a platform on which it is possible to increase your reach and publish contents. Instead, they see LinkedIn as a way to improve resumes, discover ways to expand their network and connect with those whom you already have a connection with.
In actuality, LinkedIn is a social media platform, similar to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), which is regarded as being similar to the other. Only difference is the kind of content you share.
In regards to LinkedIn's popularity, Jessica says, "The appeal of LinkedIn is the fact that it targets some portion of people who are actively engaged in personal growth as well as a desire to grow. "
Jessica will also share her story starting with her experience as a reporter in 2018, and then becoming a certified Top Voice and a LinkedIn instructor in just five years. What she is describing is that she is consistent with the platform as well as communicating with different people who could benefit from her services: assisting users improve their communication abilities.
Modify your message to accommodate B2B and B2C readers.
Many business owners believe that they will only be successful in gaining attention through restricting their content to consumers on a personal basis. It's not the case.
The advantage of LinkedIn is that it allows the user to alter their content attract both a B2B and B2C audiences. Content itself doesn't require alteration. However, changing the way you describe your company can boost your visibility and allow you to attract businesses and people.
"I have noticed that when I'm trying to reach out to my B2C customers, I would prefer using words like 'you "'your has anyone ever considered ...?'""you"?" "You," says Jessica. "My way of speaking is not ambiguous, which means those who read my content is able to feel as if they're reading something personal.
"[With the B2B marketinstead of using 'you' and "your" the way I'm presenting my messages using words like"the team" as well as "the company". This is more appealing and more personal."
HTML0 Be known as a thought-leader, in order to be able to reach B2B consumers
In contrast to individual buyers who require quality products B2B buyers want to make sure they're receiving top quality. In order to attract their attention, it's essential to establish your self known as a specialist or thought-leader in your area regardless of whether the item your business sells is targeted towards B2C buyers.
If you are the artist's position, you may create and introduce a photography course for the B2C audience. However, to gain B2B customers, you should create content that is thought-provoking and focuses on the arts or the steps to create a successful career by being an artist. If you can provide one-on-1 training which teaches people to increase their efficiency and productivity, you could appeal to B2B customers through publishing content that focus on increasing productivity in the work place.
In this way, you could begin providing B2C products like online courses One-on-one lessons, talks or workshops.
Making a Personal Brand with a Video Profile
XayLi Barclay Expert and Visual Content Coach Start Shoot Develop
A description of the session session's description doesn't it seem effortless to appear irrelevant, especially for those who are in a crowded market or have an industry that is highly competitive. However, you can counteract this perception by building your personal brand through videos, whether it's smaller TikTok clips, Instagram Reels, or lengthy YouTube videos. In this video, XayLi explains how you can use video to advertise your online course to improve sales and reinforce the brand image to clients.
It's not a lot at all to begin with.
If you're creating the first professional video or your first livestream there's no need to have flawless work. Start by using footage you have already. At first, the public can overlook the poor quality of your video along with your editing capabilities since they're aware that over time, you'll get better.
XayLi herself started her career with an old laptop and a basic white background along with an inexpensive lighting ring.
"This is which I began my journey and even got asked to be an expert" she says. "I was not waiting around for long until I got into the space set up in the newsroom to begin my first class to train the employees. I started using my equipment after I realized that what I had to talk about was not just about the incredible equipment that you have.
Today, I'm working with the built-in studio inside my house. However, this is the place that I first made my foray into HTML0 some time ago. "
Additional resources will be accessible as you move forward
As you begin to get attention on your videos and you begin making money, it's time to upgrade the equipment that you own and to upgrade the camera you use. You can, for instance, get a more expensive camera or webcam, a tripod stand (worth around $500-$1,000) and green-screen, or eCamm Live as well as a teleprompter software as well as buy your Adobe Premiere subscription for editing.
In terms of the latest technology and set-up upgrades XayLi says, "[At this stage] it is possible to have several camera angles. The range of possibilities is limitless. You can start investing into such things as you're earning income. A lot of us think that it's essential to look at your finances prior to cash flowing into. No. You have to enter the market to get the money."
When you've earned enough money after earning enough money, you can hand over your editing of video recordings in addition to the distribution of your recordings to contractors or your own internal staff.
Be attentive to just one thing at a time.
There is a common misconception that you should take each step in order to increase the size of your business: publish on every channel make the most of every trend and then speak about diverse subjects. But this isn't necessarily accurate. The best approach is to concentrate on one thing within a row when you build your branding. It will prevent the enthusiasm levels from going overboard and also lets your viewers know what they should expect each when you upload videos.
Based on XayLi Barclay's "Rule of 5 Ones" Five elements you should think about when establishing your digital plan of action:
- A single product or service
- One market that is worth targeting
- A tool for converting leads
- The most important traffic source
- A key goal for businesses
Memberships -Memberships - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Teri Ijeoma the founder of Trade & Travel
The session's summary If properly implemented the right way, memberships can be a powerful means for companies to create stronger connections with their clients and also generate additional income. Teri Ijeoma has created the membership program she designed which focuses on Trade & Travel and she hosts more than 35,000 students taking classes, and more than 185,000 individuals who are in her email list. In this presentation, Teri shares the benefits of establishing a program for membership membership, and explains how companies can create and manage members in a way which is effective.
Learn when it is time to move from a membership model that is free to a paid membership model. Know when to transition from a free group to a paid membership
If you don't have a well-established business, then you'll have begin your own membership plan which is worth nothing. Teri began her membership program by establishing an online Facebook community that's completely free. However, as you grow your community, it's crucial to determine when it's time to move from a no-cost group to one founded on the concept of membership.
These are signs that you should be watching out for before beginning the process:
- Your organization is expanding in size, but the members must pay fees annually to be eligible for the offerin contrast to having to purchase other advantages your business gives, e.g. year-long customer support, etc.
- The members of the group form independent groups, also known as sub-groups. This makes it difficult to manage the administration of groups.
- Moderators are hired by the group, or coaches who provide consultation to members of your group. There is no additional revenue generated from the group's members.
Your Membership program is an item of its own
Certain companies that offer online courses can also develop subscription plans to add to those classes. Although a subscription program can be an efficient way of making your course more appealing it is important to think about it as a product which isn't just a result of marketing device.
Speaking about the benefits of the benefits that come with the benefits of her Trade & Travel membership, Teri admits "In my early stages, I thought it was a continuation of my studies. But that's not true -The membership itself is a service on its own. It must have an individual marketing department, marketing and promotional plan... It's best to think of it as a separate product."
Be informed about the cost you'll have to pay.
If you're transitioning from a nonprofit that is free to one that is paid for membership, think about your goals in terms of income, and determine prices based on the goals you have set. It's simple to make the cost low to draw more people in. If you're certain that the program you've chosen is of top quality, do not think twice about deciding on an extra cost.
If, for instance, you are hoping to make an annual salary of $10,000 It's more beneficial that 500 members spend $200 per month rather than 1,000 people who pay 100 dollars per monthly. In reality, the higher your rate is, the fewer people would join. It means you'll be able to meet your goals for earnings more rapidly and will be able to manage your business.
Head of Table Panel Discussion
Diandra Marizet (Host) Executive Director and co-founder of Intersectional Environmentalist
The session's description describes the panel discussion be a showcase for participants Cicely, Ellie, Jessica Cicely and Jessica XayLi. They will present their opinions about the significance of diversity and representation within the world of business, and discuss challenges women and BIPOC business owners confront as they develop into entrepreneurs and creators and the best way to market their goods responsibly in the market of capital.
Below are a few of the most important as well as important issues and concerns in this debate:
Many women who are entrepreneurs, especially those from minority groups, are coming into financially secure for the first time. What are the new issues, challenges, and opportunities are they facing in the near future?
Ellie Diop: Just like the traumas of poverty, and the repercussions of wealth, too. If you're among the very few in your family that own a 6to 7-figure enterprise, there's not a lot of examples to follow. It's hard to make people comfortable talking about wealth, particularly for those of color that earn significantly more than the majority of people in their lives.
In the example above when I made the first million dollars I was scared to leave the home my mother was living in. I wasn't quite ready to take a decision to the purchase because of my uncertainty about what to take in the event the property was gone. In addition, I was afraid of telling my family members because I was worried they'd get influenced by my personality.
Something I'd like see more of is collaborative such areas, that will help eliminate the stigma associated with being the victim, and instead say "Hey there's something happening? If you're anxious about earning funds and deciding which way to use the money you earn and you're not hesitant to talk about the issue". This is the reason why many have a good amount of money and then return to where they began.
In the workplace, it's easy to be sucked into the pressure to integrate codeswitch into our lives, stay quiet, or even take certain aspects of ourselves off. There are times when it can be difficult to envision that we conform to the notion of professionalism. What did that experience teach you about your interactions with your local community? How can you bring that experience to the liberating tasks you perform as a DEI professional?
Cicely Blain states: It is in the media platforms which we were raised in and are experiencing a specific sort of person being represented on media, television and on social media, and when some creators on the internet get traction as others get snubbed from shadows It is easy to believe that one must follow a certain way of being and speaking.
If you are able to find an area where you're recognized as the person you're to people around you, and those in the same position of authority (even when they're not facing similar issues) can be truly an empowering experience. However, even as it's becoming more common for there to be a greater variety of individuals represented, and there are more chances available but there's two standards in the work we're required to be doing. The norm is to accept the different standards (even when they're not the truth) that can prove detrimental for us.
For instance, on TikTok there's a lot of people who aren't dressed in a professional manner all the time. While this is great the only applies to users who are expecting greater of themselves and their how they portray themselves.
If you're faced by the dilemma that your present path do not correspond with where you are at and what your ultimate objective could be, then take the next step towards transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship?
Jessica Chen: All of us will reach a point that we realize that the goal you set to yourself was accomplished, and we're now ready to explore new opportunities. Myself, I was in a job I was extremely happy with and I enjoyed, however after 10 years of being employed I was able to feel that there was something more I could do. My character was always one that has my own way of life. When I thought about it I was wondering how I could transfer the knowledge I've learned.
My initial job was as a journalist. This is what you consider to be a "proper" occupation in which you aren't able to speak your mind or express yourself, but you're just telling other people stories. It was an uphill climb to develop my own voice, and displaying my personal fashion. The process was definitely an evolving process.
How do you set the price of your services or products to attract people that share your beliefs and who are eager to learn from your mistakes, and recognize the worth of what you to offer?
XayLi Barclay While it's true that the majority of times we lower prices however, it's possible to make investors feel overwhelmed when they invest in turn and cause a disgrace to investors. One might believe that you'll receive a lot of buyers if your prices are cheaply, but what's really happening is that you're getting over-excited customers who don't have the time to think about a purchase.
I hired a business coach to help me figure out what I'd earn which then determined my price based on the quantity. It is common for creators to create an online course for $7, and make six figures the product, yet they do not have the necessary volume. If you're a less-established creator, then you should be aware of what you want to accomplish as a firm and decide your prices according to what you'd like to accomplish.
If I offer 5 online classes for $1,000 each, I'll make $5,000. That's in stark contrast to providing 500 classes for just 10 dollars per class. Think about it this way. It's what I was forced to follow.
