"'DeKalb" is the fictionalized version of the 911 call that has made headlines in 2013. The phone caller is visible through Antoinette Tuff's eyes as she talks to the identity of an unknown man, identified by the name of Michael Hill, who walks through the school. Michael Hill is armed with the Atlanta primary school, and is carrying an AK-47 as well as fifty rounds. I didn't know about the 911 call at the time the information came out, but I came across the details several years later while doing research for another project which was nearing completion concerning the mass shooting that was carried out. I was in my living room in Los Angeles riveted and emotional when I was listening to fourteen minutes of audiotape. For the next few months I was difficult to take the voices from my thoughts. Do you encounter difficulties making your video?
"The film was basically an action-film with two hands. It was the most challenging part of getting the best actors to portray the characters. My decision was to make the film with no actors. I was looking through IMDb and also looking at casting lists of indie television films, series and TV series. If I came across someone who seemed like an ideal match for a particular actor I would add them to the list. When the list was expanded to about 30-40 individuals, I'd begin looking into all names on the list as well as checking out their past work (TV films, performance or film and film.) before reducing the number of individuals on the list.
Following that, I'd take another step to repeat the entire procedure. This is how I came across Tarra Riggs as well as Bo Mitchell who play the main parts. The final decision in the production of the film was that I chose to concentrate on those things we're not in a position to observe... no matter the face of an actor getting blocked out by a wall, or the chaos caused by children screaming offscreen but not hearing.
The impression I got was that you, the viewer will create interesting images in your mind and that I could present these pictures to you. Furthermore, by giving additional specifics in terms of images and details of the story, it might be that the viewers get more invested in the story and increase their participation in the movie. This was the goal to be sure, at least at least partially . "
The film is extremely well-controlled and gives it the appearance like it was made in a single day. How does the timing of production look?
"The script is composed by 20 pages. It was necessary to shoot for five days. I made sure that every day's pages were counted as little as I could due to your motives. The longer my group and me were during filming, more careful and attentive we were in blocking costumes, photos, and also the designs that were to be used in the movie. I've researched the Lunaape extensively in preparation for the documentary I'm currently developing . One thing that truly impressed and impressed me was the way they interpreted the tales.
