What's your story?

"My moniker is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I am an illustrator, animator, and GIF artist who is based in Brooklyn, New York. As part of my job as an artist I make animations, motion graphics and storyboards for explainers videos, and mobile apps. But what I really enjoy doing on the side is to make fun and quirky animations and stickers that make people smile, and allow them to express themselves."

"I grew up in Taiwan and began attending the fine arts school as a child. I was always drawn to drawing but I began to be stymied in a strict education method. I felt that I was unable to express my identity and voice using classical tools that art uses. Learning about fine art has certainly helped me establish the foundation for where I am now."

"I changed into design college in my college and moved to New York for grad school. That's when I began experimenting with digital animations as well as animation. Animation gave me the ability to blend motion and illustration to tell a story with a lively method. I really enjoyed discovering how to bring still images to life."

What is the key to making your animated images?

"I love to work with an empathetic sense and strong emotions that help individuals feel more connected. I enjoy playing with different mediums as well as creating an original design style. Making designs can be a lot of entertaining!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I love how team members spark ideas together in the group, and I believe that good work typically is built by a group comprised of individuals with different strengths and skill sets.

The day-to-day life of I wouldn't stop creating things that keep me inspired. When not designing motion graphics, I can be seen making a chaos in my kitchen (lots in cooking) and creating crafts. I love to go to Brooklyn market and try my hand with various ingredients at my home. The world is full of magical things, I love traveling and exploring different cultures, new communities, and innovative artwork."
