The Hamburg-based artist and illustrator Ines Hassler, better known as Frau Ines is awed by her creative talent, bravery and her local art community.

"Creative exchange, contacts as well as the sense of community that the scene offers are important to me and have had an enormous impact on my career," says Ines. The scene in Hamburg includes creative projects which are managed by Ines along with her artist's group in Hamburg: Hey Du Hey Du, which is their gallery as well as a tattoo studio. Also, they have Live Art Club Live Art Club, which they describe as a "cheerful fresh, cheerful" drawing class. "I could not be the person I am now if I were not open to everything the city and its people could give me in the last few years," Ines says.

Active artist since an early age, Ines studied a variety of art-related fields throughout her school years before landing at what she felt was the best to her: the field of design. "But after only a couple of years working for agencies," she says, "I discovered that I was more focused on the work I was doing beyond working for many hours rather than working with large companies and clients. At some point, I made the decision to start my own company and become an full-time artist."

The creative variety of ideas can be a motivating instrument

"The diversification of my day-to-day life keeps me energized and creative," she says. "The toughest aspect for me is performing exactly the same thing every day. I like switching between projects, working with different groups, and accomplishing similar targets. My job feels like a hobby."

"But evidently, it can be challenging," she acknowledges, "especially in times of outbreaks or times when deadlines from diverse parties meet. It can be extremely stress-inducing and often way too much. That's why it's my responsibility to strike a balance."

"In all, the realization of self will always be the main aspect," Ines adds. "Sometimes it's still crazy I'm able to consider what I'm doing as a profession. For me, it's not something I do for a living, but rather an everyday way of living."
