interview with Joe Howard

Q1: What's your background and how did begin to get involved with WordPress?

Much like many others in the world of WordPress I discovered it during various projects. I took math as a major in college and then graduated. I was able to be a math teacher in high school for a few years at Washington, DC Public Schools.

Then I made the decision to leave my field. Then, I joined an initial stage SEO agency. I was appointed Director of Operations. It's an amazing title especially when you're one the very first employees in the business is all about getting to work in a flash of hair and doing all kinds of things.

In addition I had the opportunity to learn about internet marketing, and ways to build an online business, skills which I employ and enhance to this day.

My first startup gig wasn't easy, nonetheless, it was worth the blood, sweat and tears that I put into acquiring the information I needed to be able to achieve the level I'm at today (and my direction to in not too distant in the near future).

Q2: What's the most essential thing you should be aware of with regard to everything you're doing through WordPress at the moment?

It's likely that I'm extremely active in my own local WP community! I recruit through PostStatus that is one of the PostStatus Job Board and as well as participate with WordPress Meetups (DC, Baltimore and Northern Virginia). Additionally, I'll be giving my first WordCamp talk at WordCamp Pittsburgh as well as WordCamp Baltimore. Boom!

Since then I've developed WPMRR as well as The WPMRR WordPress podcast after the huge popularity of WP Buffs. First, there's an online training course that shows WordPress professionals how to handle the sales and devise continuous support strategies for their customers, as well as increase their earnings each month. The entire podcast is focused on a growing and successful WordPress business, as and regular monthly income not taking too much serious.

3. What obstacles did you have to overcome when you were trying to reach the professional level?

There's plenty! People are awed with the fact the fact that WP Buffs is where it was for only a year. But, I must inform users that this site was born out of seven years of making mistakes which has accelerated the pace of getting better at. It was a mix of 7 to 10 failed projects that brought me to where I am today.

The most challenging challenge I've encountered on my way to get here wasn't directly connected to WordPress or anything else.

I'm not saying that quitting my 9-5 job, that was well-paying but also very lucrative, and doing my business full-time in a full-time capacity was very difficult for me. After I took the plunge I realized that I had made the right option. If you're a regular person you find it hard to get out of the routine.

I'm convinced that my time is the most valuable value. So, whatever I learnt required me to release. Additionally, I wasn't a good employee. Therefore, I was forced to work on my own. I was required to do.

My belief that I need to be working all day to be successful is only one of the initial steps, however I believe it was one of the most significant choices I've made over the last few years.

It's crucial to put in an effort to examine what went wrong and determine how to enhance your performance next time to obtain the results you're looking for. That's what I'm attempting to achieve and I'm able to improve my abilities.

Q4: What's surprised you within your WordPress world?

Honest and sincere Warm and friendly is what the WordPress community has grown into.

There is no need to be a complete beginner (like I was just a few months ago) However, there are many who are part of WordPress Meetups as well as WordCamp Happiness Bars along with WordCamp Happiness Bars to assist you in overcoming your skills and overcome the obstacles you encounter.

What business I manage or whatever type of organization I'm employed with My involvement in the of the WordPress industry is something that I'm very proud of. It's a vibrant community comprised of real individuals who are not afraid to show their real self. There's not many areas in which you could put an extroverted professional in marketing and an introverted software developer together and find that they get along easily This is a unique experience.

The same way, I am awestruck by the number of users who concentrate solely on WordPress however they don't invest the effort to build and grow a company. I believe there's a lot of space in WordPress's WordPress community for people to earn a hefty profitable profit that can be sustained by small companies instead of working 80-hour days a week in the freelance world.

My opinion is that this is the thing we as a collective, need to do. Making the right decisions for business and scaling the technology that we're making so that it can never be needed to operate all week long 24/7 a week.

This is why I love seeing Troy Dean at WP Elevation aiding people to build WordPress firms, which result in real positive benefits for their users and solve big issues.

Question 5: What do you consider the possibilities for the future of both you and you and WordPress world?

Achieving higher and forward with WP Buffs!

We're committed to providing the most trusted technical support to any business, individual or another entity which has a WordPress website. However, we're in the process of implementing it We're nearing 100 clients. This means that we've completed our demonstration-of-concept.

In the pursuit of expanding the scope of our offerings, we've formulated plans to broaden the range of services offered. of the white-label partnership program. This is a top priority for me personally. Locating the best advertising agencies, design companies as well as freelancers in WP to provide continuous assistance to is one of the most important aspects of the growth of our business. I am awed by the progress it's achieved to propel the business forward.

Much like most entrepreneurs, I'm constantly considering the next venture I'd like to start and expand into the WordPress industry but also outside of it. But, I'm trying not to get into"shiny things syndrome" to remain focused and make sure WordPress Buffs can provide an excellent service to our customers.

Q6: What are the main factors you think about when choosing the ideal WordPress host?

One thing I'm trying to find in hosting providers is whether or not hosting services are managed completely.

I understand that the cost of shared hosting might appeal to some people. If you're operating a blog for your own use which doesn't attract a lot of visitors, sharing hosting could be your most effective option.

My opinion is that I believe that the duration of the time is well worthwhile. The only thing I can do is to work for 24 hours within a single day and I'm only using the smallest quantity of bandwidth. In order to maintain WP Buffs' popularity and grow its visibility, I'm required be attentive to selecting the top people and attending WordCamps or other conferences, as well as speaking, as well as tackling big problems. Making decisions about the host' dashboards that we provide to our customers is not something I'd ever would like to undertake. This is the reason I collaborate together with the hosting companies to take the lead on this.

It is essential to find a reliable host provider to keep your site fast, secure and up on the internet. However, there's lots of high-quality hosting services to choose from. Should you select one of these, chances are it will be that you'll have the tools to handle these kinds of hosting services.

Q7: What's the activities you engage in when you're away at the computer?

I am a resident of Mt. Pleasant. I'm in a secluded area at Rock Creek Park where I enjoy nature and walk with my dog Marvin every day.

If I'm working away on WordPress chances are I'm enjoying time with my partner, Sterling. Our wedding was this month! We enjoy hiking through the mountains and also camping from Washington, DC. We also enjoy traveling (Burning Man will be in the near future).

I'm also a member of the group referred to as Sandbox. The summits of the world were held in the forests of Panama and on an island off Croatia. My tribe!

To read, I'm an avid reader of SciFi. It's likely that I'll read every month a novel. In addition, I'm required to listen to one hour of radio shows (Tim Ferriss, Joe Rogan, etc) every day. There's a lot there!

Question 8: Who is our next interviewee and why?

Brian Krogsgard! Since his appearance at the Post Status"Publish" in the past, I am more impressed by his skills in WordPress and the world of online. Additionally, he built a vibrant group of WordPress users out of air. It could be an excellent interview.)

Brian Jackson

Brian is a huge fan of WordPress and has made regular usage of the platform for more than a 10 years. He is the developer of two of the top WordPress plugins. Brian is an avid fan of the outdoors, films as well as blogging. Follow Brian on Twitter.
