Illustrations that incorporate movement and space The CreativeMindClass Blog
Ever since I was a kid I've been drawn to paint, and play with my hands. It was and always has been the most natural way to express myself. Growing as a child in Taiwan the pursuit of an artistic career was thought of as a negative thing and often advised by parents to take classes in deeper into practical topics in order to avoid ending being hungry on the streets.
My mom was always encouraging my pursuit of anything I desired and has done everything that she could to help me achieve my goals. After coming back in America, United States and graduating high school, I made the decision that I wanted to make art a career.

I was admitted to ArtCenter College of design, where I studied Illustration, with the goal of moving into the feature animation field. However, along the way I came across motion graphics and was enthralled by its versatility and all the incredible work done by those I respect.

What would you say about the style you prefer?
The process is still in the road to discovering a style that I can confidently call my own. I tend to experiment with various new styles every now and then... One month, I'll be drawn to doing extremely vibrant things. Soon I'll try my hand at organic colors. be really into a shape car style for a few months, one day suddenly I'll get bored of it and would like to experiment with something that's more inspired by lines.

Sometimes, I'll attempt to blend two different things that are intriguing to me, to make it seem like I'm in the endless journey of discovery and gain knowledge. After fumbling a in a few places I'm starting to realize the specific designs, colours, or compositions I'm drawn to, perhaps that's a start of an aesthetic?

This is part of the reasons why I am so happy being at Oddfellows and sometimes, I cannot believe that I'm fortunate to work with an amazing group of people. In the workplace, we are often required the ability to change our style depending on the project. nearly every task is completed using different methods, and I'm constantly getting new knowledge from my colleagues every day.

What are the most important things to consider when creating your illustration?
I love to draw drawings of subjects I am intrigued or curious in, then try to make my own interpretation of the subject.
Most importantly, I love having enjoyable. Fun is essential to creating something that viewers are able to see that a creator was having pleasure performing some thing... the extra spark.

As I was battling the pandemic, seeing the staff at my studio as well as my friends doing their best to help the local community and the community, I felt compelled to create a Patreon named Joy&Frens which gives half of my net revenue goes to charity chosen by my patrons. There, I post Tips & Tricks, process videos, ask friends to join me for collaborations and share their wisdom.
My work is also displayed my work on Instagram and on my web site.
