How Stellantis is powering limitless learning via video
With a workforce that is more than 300,000. Stellantis is the maker of names such as Peugeot, Fiat, and Chrysler - knows the importance of scaling almost every aspect. "We rank among the top five automotive manufacturing companies in the world." says Phil Price, Head of The Performance Academy, Stellantis. "As the learning and development sphere grew, we very quickly realized it was all about what we can offer our employees to increase their efficiency." Then, The Performance Academy was created.
The headquarters are in the auto capital of England The team at The Performance Academy produce thousands of hours of educational content to Stellantis employees - but to stay in touch with the ever-growing number of employees They needed a replicable system to communicate details with employees across all over the world. "We've spent a huge amount of time studying the ways people would like to learn," says Phil. "Video-based online instruction will be the norm in the near future."
As a member of the community for nearly a decade, the team has always seen the value of video. In this regard, Stellantis has shifted their focus toward a fully online strategy. "With face-to-face instruction the requirement is to duplicate the same training 10 times, with the expense of 10 different costs," he says. "With video, you can scale it to no limit."
Unrestricted learning
"We are able to access, on average, about 350 hours of content available each day," notes Phil. "Behind those 350 hours, we've probably have tens of thousands of hours of content has been developed and created in the past 12 years."
This catalog of content means every employee can learn what they want to learn at the times and places that work for their needs. "Our classes are available 24 hours a day," he adds. "That's vital, since we have people who do it on their own time as they are aware that they'll increase their personal performance."
Powerhouse Productions
The Performance Academy is now The Performance Academy is expanding to live streaming on a daily basis that range from sales seminars to communications at the board level. To pull it off, The Performance Academy has invested into their production capabilities and operates as a mini Hollywood studio located in the middle of Coventry, England.
"Look at where we're at in the present," says Phil. "We're within our own studio. We're in our own ability to animate an overlay, perform any task we'd like to. Everything you be able to see in a film we can now do in The Performance Academy."
Partnerships for growth
With the latest production tools and a crack group of L&D specialists, The Performance Academy uses to produce, host and disperse their efforts. "As the development and learning sphere has grown, continues to improve its delivery methods, models, and reporting," says Phil. "We've really benefited from that."
