Honouring History, empowering the future: International Women's Day 2024

Every year on March 8th, the world unites in celebration of International Women's Day (IWD). This day is a time to recognize the amazing achievements of women, as well as to think about the challenges they still face and make a commitment to make a better world which women and men are treated equally. Looking back, this day didn't occur overnight. It's the culmination of struggle determination, persistence, and perseverance. The day is celebrated by all of us. We invite you to come along for a short journey through the rich history of IWD which is a proof of the effectiveness of our the collective effort.

Beginning by planting Seeds of Change to a Global Movement

The seeds of IWD IWD began to germinate from the beginning at the turn of century. At this point, that women's rights grew in strength. In 1857, on March 8th, a number of women were on strike to protest the lack of working conditions and the poor working standards that women faced in the industry of textiles. They demanded a cutting of working hours as well as reasonable living wages. In 1908, on the date of March 8th, a march by women employed in trades of needles was held to oppose child labor and working conditions at sweatshops as well as to protect the rights of women to vote. The year 1910 was following the march, on March 8, was declared an annual holiday as International Women's Day.

The catalyst for change

Through the 20th century IWD played a significant role in bringing about positive change. It provided a platform in which women could speak their voices in issues such as the right to vote, fair work conditions and wages, as well as access to higher education. In 1975, IWD was officially recognized in 1975 by The United Nations officially recognized IWD and affirmed the worldwide significance of IWD.

A Day of Celebration and Action

Presently, IWD is celebrated in various ways, from spectacular parades to private celebrations. It's a time to recognize those women who have left a mark in every profession which ranges from scientists to artists, to entrepreneurs and activists. It's crucial to remember that IWD isn't just about celebrating it's also a chance to take action. The struggle for gender equality isn't over. The fight must continue to ensure equality of possibilities and to combat harmful stereotypes and help empower girls and women around the world. The principal theme for International Women's Day 2024 is " Invest in Women for a faster pace of the pace of progress" with the globally popular hashtag #InvestInWomen..

In accordance with the UN UN UN the UN the UN, these five categories are the key in pushing this tag that is becoming obsolete.

  • Improving women's lives is a matter in Human Rights:Time is going by fast. The issue of equal gender representation is the main human rights issue that everyone benefits from.
  • The elimination of poverty Because of the COVID disease and conflicts, an additional 75 million people have fallen into severe poverty in the last year of 2020. Action is urgently needed for stopping over 342 million females and girls that are in extreme poverty by 2030.
  • Finance that's gender-sensitive: Conflicts and rising costs could cause 75 percent of nations to reduce public expenditure until 2025. This will negatively impact women as well as their vital services.
  • Transitioning to a sustainable society and economy:The economy currently has a negative impact on women. Advocates for a shift towards sustainable economics and a care society that will boost the voice of women.
  • Women's empowerment through the changemakers: Despite leading efforts women's organizations are receiving just 0.13 percent of official funding to grow.

Beyond the Day

While IWD is a major celebration for females, it is important to remember that the quest for equality between men and women shouldn't be restricted just to one day. Since we're a business founded by inclusion and empowerment we are determined to create the conditions for women to be able to thrive throughout the time of the year. If it's about creating a culture based on professionalism and respect as well as assisting organizations that are committed to the rights for women.
