Find balance in your life ... And also create space for creativity Blog

Jul 28, 2022

In the fast-paced, high-pressured technological age that is always focusing attention on the next thing and time, it's difficult to find time for projects that call for creativity, specifically personal tasks. If you're exhausted from your creative juices towards the close of the day or feel like you don't have enough time to try something completely new, you don't have to stay in a closed situation.

"I often get overwhelmed by the amount of tasks I need to complete. There's work to finish for clients, and I work on my own animation apps which I developed, and most importantly most importantly, I have my daughter to take care of," says Michal Finegold who is a professional animator using computers in addition to a software designer. "On the top of this, my inbox is constantly blowing over and my social media feed is always trying to get my interest. I'm always contacting and messaging. It can be insane."

Finegold's stories aren't restricted to one, and we'd guess that many artists are caught in the center of a storm. In spite of the daily pressure, it's possible to have in a healthy, mindful and creative life that allows you to pursue your desires while also having the other things taken by the system and. To help you achieve your goals reach out to Finegold and three others who are creative , to get suggestions on how they've been able to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Set and follow your routine in the morning

Kathryn Bethard, a UX and web designer based in Delaware She claims to be often overwhelmed by the demands of life is more so than ever. She says finding equilibrium is much easier by beginning each day by setting a goal for herself.

"Personally I've discovered that the best way to keep me calm is to stick to the same routine each early in the morning." she says. "Each day, I start my day by taking a relaxing mix of coffee and meditation, gratitude journaling and mindfulness meditation. This creates an amazing positive effect on my day, and it helps keep me positive and focused whatever the day brings."

Make a schedule for your Week/Day

"Block scheduling my work is an approach that has proven to be extremely beneficial for my requirements. It allows me to stay focused and boosts my productivity," she says. "For example Mondays and Wednesdays are dedicated to my client's work. Tuesday is when I work on personal business marketing and branding and Thursdays are for customer meetings. Friday is my day to wrap up any work that wasn't completed during the week."

If you can organize your life, you'll be more likely to be more productive as well as have time to do what you want. Planning time to work on your own creative projects will allow you time to "do what you like," too.

Remove Dings and Distractions

The process of getting tasks accomplished throughout the day may be challenging enough, but add the continuous stream of messages from social media and text messages, along with other interruptions, and you'll see the process of cutting off or beginning work can be mentally draining for the brain. A reduction in the amount of sound -- both physically and metaphorically has allowed Finegold to feel more at calm throughout the day.

"I switch off the notifications on my mobile as well as all other devices, aside from phone calls. I'm not able to receive or look up any alerts whenever there's emails or messages sent from Facebook tweets, Twitters or Whatsapp texts. nothing. The messages show up in text however they're not being used," she claims. "I can't manage the constant interruptions which are taking my focus from my phone. Instead, I scan these things when they are acceptable for me and I'm curious to learn more."

It doesn't mean you have to avoid web or text messages throughout your entire day. In fact, the goal is to dedicate your time with them , rather than being distracted by them throughout the entire day.

Make sure your choices are in line to your Passions

We invite you to look at your task-list and consider what inspires you and what is causing you to slow down. There are some jobs that may be "necessary necessity" (like making invoices and getting email messages to be in order) but you must decide if you can alter your offering to be more aligned to your passions for creating. It's precisely what Sabina Fenn an illustrator who worked on commercial projects did.

"As artists, I discovered that working with commercial clients was especially complicated because I was required to allow myself the flexibility to create images that inspired me at the time I was at that point," she says. "Recently I changed the way I way of working, which was purely digital, and started working with gouache and watercolor. This has enabled me to get back to work and has me excited for every project that comes my through my."

Instead of adding a service like Fenn perhaps you should consider putting off things that you're apprehensive about. That's precisely how Bethard did last week.

"A two months ago, it came to my realization that working on a project that I was not enjoying was ludicrous. That's why I have stopped giving writing assistance. Concentrating on design allows me to have greater freedom of thought and feel more content by my work, instead of simply doing part of the work. It's among the most rewarding things I've accomplished for my job," she says. "To those who works in the area of creativity, I would advise that you focus on the things that you love the most. If you think that having an ability can bring your money, but are you actually working hard when you are not enjoying your job?"

Establish and follow clearly defined work boundaries

"I've noticed that being a freelancer who operates from home, developing clearly defined limits between your work and personal life is vital. When I reserve my evenings to myself so that I start my day refreshed and full of motivation," says Bethard. Employers may be immersed working later in the day, which can affect the mental health of their employees.

Creating a clear end time -- and mentally checking out of the office provides the freedom of scheduling your evenings. That means you're able to find the time to exercise, do some work to yourself or connected with your friends. These practices have proven effective in increasing the enjoyment of life, boost your energy and enhance the performance of your work. This increases your work productivity as time passes.
