Fantasy illustration - The CreativeMindClass Blog

What would you say about your personal style?

It's somewhere between stylized and realistic illustration. I use a lot of colors that are muted and watery and generally work with organic, flowing shapes. I think my "style" as an illustrator is heavily determined by my color palette and the subject matter I choose to draw but not always how the painting is done. I previously worked in a much more line-oriented approach, however I've been transitioning into a looser and more painterly approach.

What are the most important factors in creating your drawings of fantasy art?

Sweating over them until it appears to be closest to what I see the image in my mind (within reason, otherwise I'd be able to spend months working on one painting). I try really hard to make my designs more complex to create a mediocre picture. I'd rather spend a lot of time getting the perfect fantasy image than rush through it.

Where can people see your fantasies?

I'll be participating in the upcoming "Oceans and Currents" show in Gallery Nucleus during July! In the meantime I'm through Instagram. There are prints available through my store Bandcamp if anyone would be curious!

Additionally, I'm on Youtube as well as Bandcamp to those who are interested in my music, as I will release more tracks very shortly.

The Background of Brigitte

I graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and I currently work in the field of entertainment art as an illustrator and concept artist. Also, I have a ongoing creative project known as Pearl Farm that I make illustrations. I write, as well as perform original songs.

The article illustrations are from my personal project, Pearl Farm. It's my original story that follows a travel singer named Vinny along with her pet ray Hubble when they journey their way across the world called the Lofty Coastline.
