We've updated community notification settings to improve the member experience (and lesser emails). Here's what's new.

What are the best ways to inform your members about what's happening in your local community?

It's crucial to let your users about exciting conversations and engage them with additional conversations. However, you need give them the ability to control the experience they have and stop notifications overload. In addition, we learned from our founding team members about how crucial it is to strike the right level of balance.

The most recent update to the community feature that you and your users are more in control of notification notifications. It means more active discussion, no more overflowing inboxesand an online platform for social interaction that brings both of you together.

Create your own notification preferences as creator members

Community members and creators have the option of choosing the types of notifications they want to receive about every subject including new posts, replies to your posts or new replies to your post.

When you log in to a community as a member Log into Settings Click "Edit" under Notifications. (Creators will find this option under the Notifications tab of the Account Settings.)

There are a variety of communities you are able to follow. Simply check or uncheck boxes to choose what kind of messages you'd like to get from each community.

In this instance, for instance, you could want to receive notifications for postings, comments and replies to topics that are important in time, such as Live Events and Announcements. Other areas, like Announcements, you may want to be only notified whenever someone announces an event or you can remove notifications from this topic altogether.

You can also quickly switch the notifications off or on simply by pressing "Mute the entire" or "Unmute all".

Additionally, you are able to change your notification preferences per topic by visiting the "All topics"page or on a specific page for a particular topic. Hit the bell icon and following that, you are able to alter the preferences you want for notifications.

Set default notifications for a topic

Creators can also set standard notification settings for every area within your community. This allows greater control over member experience.

Instead of notifying your members on every post in every topic, it's possible to select which topics members are informed about, as well as the types of messages they receive.

Here's how:

On the Community tab on your dashboard, select "All subjects". Next, select the "..." following topic that you'd like editing and click "Edit the topic". From there, choose the notification settings under "Default notifications settings".

Users can alter these setting for notifications at any time in their user accounts. If they don't modify their settings before, they'll fall back to the default options established by the person who wrote each topic.
