Art and authenticity - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Connecting to your true self. The essence of what a person is.
Angela Maria Sierra, a Spaniard-born artist, depicts her true self and emotions she is feeling. It is evident in her models with a rich emotional life filled with sensitivity, ease, and joy.
Her name is more well-known in the world of art as Riso Chan, a portrait artist and an artist currently within The Netherlands. The artist is about to begin her art journey by creating videos and her own creative YouTube channel! It's something that she was wishing to do for a very lengthy period of. In bravery, despite uncomfortable conversations with the camera, she uploaded the video that was fun to watch about her working, her life, and her creative surroundings.
Riso Chan on embracing her authentic self in her art work:
My work is very emotional. I create portraits of myself of the feelings I am feeling. I was always a very sensitive individual. Since I was a child there was something that made me feel uncomfortable , and I would try to get it out of my system. (...) As you mature and realize that it's alright and everyone feels differently. I decided to make use of my emotional energy that I carry into my daily life and start painting. It is a way to boost my creative juices and generate fresh ideas. This is astonishing because of the thing I had been pushing down all my life suddenly I put it down on paper, and it seemed like a great feeling of relief. There is finally the possibility to utilize this feeling, and I can use these emotions pleasures, hurts, and pains and put them on paper. The experience was truly wonderful and brought me back to my place that was filled with gratitude. It started resonating with a number of others too. I was opening the door and writing things down onto paper that I had never thought of before. In lieu of trying to be the same as other artists who have already "made it" I listened to what I want to convey and who I am as an individual. I accepted something I did not like about me and realized that it was actually my greatest strength. I'm really content being my true sensitive self.
