My personal background
My name is Ekaterina Boguslavskaya. I grew up in Russia.
I went to school in Moscow however, I also lived in the countryside.
The water was not hot and the home was heated with a heater which was used by the neighbors to raise cows and goats. Wonderful times! In addition to nature and bikes I was obsessed with animation. All my peers were grown up and no longer enjoyed cartoons. I was exactly the opposite! I realized that this could be my preferred thing to do. That's how I got into film school at Moscow, Russia.

My personal style
I want my drawings to always bring out some deeply emotional emotions. It's like sitting with a fire in the middle of an afternoon of ski in the woods.

My method
I enjoy the drawing process. There's something that it shares with meditation. While I'm at work I can see it getting dark outside, I'll get hungry, but that's not really what affects me while in the process.

Presently, I'm employed both in the animation industry and illustration... Also, even for board games. I really love the work I do.
I've always been drawing a lot. However, it began to look better when I graduated. As I decided the way and what I would draw.

My suggestion to skeptical visual artists
Consider what you enjoy and enjoy your time with it. Try to listen less to others who you don't like what they do. It will all work out! You will meet people who are going to be enthralled by what you're doing.

My technique
I sketch almost every thing using my iPad, Procreate. Sometimes I finish something using Photoshop.
The iPad has improved my lifestyle. Now I work at home, in cafes, and in libraries. When I pick a location to work. I also move around, I do not just sit in front of my computer. The iPad is an amazing tool that combines classic drawing and drawing on computers.

The iPad has great brushes. For example, I got watercolor brushes in "The Watercolor MaxPack - Brushes for Procreate". It is a joy every time I make use of these brushes. They're the closest to watercolors as they can get.

A few thoughts on the way I conduct my work
I try to make an outline sketch of objects. Because I find hard outlines harsh and cold.
Sometimes I make my shadows cold bluish with the multiply setting. Sometimes I use overlay. But I don't understand that very much.

Procreate has some good blur options, check them out! There are several kinds of them, and they're very good. But mostly I draw as I do with traditional tools on paper or canvas.
I'm still looking, learning about my subject as well as trying to come closer to my image that I like by making personal work.

Information about the Teriberka series
I did after traveling there (to Teriberka). Russian North, the Arctic. A town where people built ships to capture a large amount of fish. Today, it's a little abandoned.
It is a beautiful image. Please google it! It is very beautiful.

I always like the North.
I am a fan of my animals, people, the millions of shades of moss. Tiny berries contain loads of vitamin C, which is more than tropical fruits. It's quite amazing.
Northern cliffs look like the skin of huge elephants! These are the feelings which I have tried to portray in the pictures.

About the Tiny Things series
The idea for this project came to my mind after I had become exhausted of work, the pandemic as well as the urban environment.

I bought an macro lens, and then went to the woods. What a stunning beauty was right under my feet! Everything was beautiful. It gave me a lot of creative energy. It was how this project was born.
Whatever happens it is possible to find a miracle right under the feet!

How I organize my time at work
The most difficult thing to do is control your time and relaxation as well as say no to requests that aren't appropriate. Or to take on lots of tasks, and to try and not get tired from doing the things you enjoy. This is all I'm still trying to master.

The creative blockages
The tough aspect is actually the procedure itself Sometimes it fails to take place. It's not what I like about the outcome. So you can suffer for 8 hours and then get annoyed. After that, just a few days afterwards, you can redo it in a matter of minutes and everything looks good. What's that? Magic.

A few tips on how to overcome creative blocks
When there is some kind of task - do not take a moment to draw (if you can). Your brain should be able to process the task on the side while busy doing other things. That's how I think you can find the best solution.

How I view my work
If I had to rate my own work - I'd never rate myself the grade of "excellent". It's very exhausting and I do my best to make myself miserable. On the other hand it pushes me ahead.
Drawing is like a great adventure!
If you have tickets to a country, you already know something about it on Google and something else will be surprising your right there. So far, it seems as if it would be a great adventure for me.

There are more of Ekaterina's works on and keep an eye out for the next installment of this series via Instagram , Artstation or Behance.
