AAPI Heritage Month Employee Showcase: Paul Choi

Paul Choi is a Senior Community Manager at . We're turning the spotlight over to him via our blog to highlight his contribution to a important time in Asian American and Pacific Islander time, and much many more!

 Could you explain the work you perform here in the first place ?

In The Community Team, we oversee The Hero Community and other community -driven programs and resources. The mission of our team is to connect our customers around the world and to empower our Heroes to be successful entrepreneurs by utilizing community-based programs and resources.

 What is a professional accomplishment that you are particularly proud of?

 What has your culture identity impacted your journey working in the field of technology?

I think that's something that I'm trying to better understand my own self.

 Do you observe Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and , if yes, what do they mean to you?

Not specifically AAPI Heritage Month, but as a child, I was a part of and took part in Korean heritage and cultural events which would include festivals and different campaigns. Like many other people, I've realized how crucial these kinds of celebrations and events of the culture are in better understanding the concept of belonging and identity.

 Can you describe an event or person from AAPI past that was meaningful to you?

The most significant would be been my parents as well as the countless immigrant families that uprooted themselves in search of more opportunities in other countries. It's fascinating to look at the challenges facing the older generations in the AAPI group. In addition, I would like to affirm that I'll not forget the experience Linsanity was...so thank you at Jeremy Lin!

 What ways can you take part in the AAPI group?

I usually seek out community within the areas that I'm spending the most time. In college, I was involved heavily in KSA (the Korean Students Association), and at previous workplaces I've participated in different AAPI focused ERGs.

 What do you love about working at ?

My most favorite thing about working at is easily the team and people that I'm able to work with. I am extremely grateful for the warm and encouraging atmosphere created, and the love that's shown in our products and customers is a joy to be part of.

Just a shameless plug for our customers to be part of the Hero Community! We're going to continue building the most active and enriching social experience that we can and would like to meet members of the community!
